How To Make Dry Ice At Home

Dry Ice is very dangerous to the human eyes and skin on direct contact and can be created in home with the help of a carbon dioxide extinguisher. Usually, Dry Ice is found in ships and has a variety of applications in keeping the products fresh for long periods of time. For home purposes, a small can of the carbon dioxide extinguisher is taken and the outlet is opened in an air tight manner in an ice bag and the gas is released in to the bag for only a few seconds and then stopped and as the carbon dioxide gas evaporates, dry ice will be formed. This is very simple but handling and maintaining the dry ice in the same state is very hard. The physical touch has to be avoided to a great extent as it will cause burning sensations in the skin and in some extreme cases will have adverse effects on the skin and a doctor has to be consulted. Hence the dry ice must be handled using a pair of thick gloves or using tongs to be safe but the white powdered dry ice starts evaporating and vanishes quickly. Some try to preserve the dry ice in the same state and keep it in the freezer which will damage the entire fridge as Dry Ice is cooler than the wet ice in the freezer and the freezer will stop functioning. It is strongly advised to use the Dry Ice quickly on the products and normally the containers that hold dry ice will have their lids open as the Dry Ice has the tendency to break the entire container.
